The relations between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have become a vivid example of promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, said a national political adviser on Saturday.

Wei Zhaohui, a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and director-general of Guangxi International Expositions Bureau, said that the China-ASEAN Expo has been successfully held 19 times, with over 1.1 million business representatives from more than 40 countries and regions participating. The grand event has contributed to the growth of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, which represents a population of 2 billion.

Speaking at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Wei said the expo has also driven the development of major projects such as the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, creating growth opportunities for companies and people from all countries.

Launched in 2017, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor is a trade and logistics passage jointly built by provincial-level regions in western China and ASEAN members, according to information released by the Ministry of Commerce.

Wei said that the corridor has developed rapidly over the years, expanding the number of destinations to 393 ports in 119 countries and regions.

Thanks to the holdings of the China-ASEAN Expos and the thriving New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, as well as the tangible development of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, food and beverage products, and household goods from ASEAN countries have become popular products in China. At the same time, China's intelligent equipment and green appliances are also favored by consumers in ASEAN economies, she added.
