Shao Tianshuai, a national first-grade actor, and deputy director of the Northern Kunqu Opera Theatre in Beijing said, "Since Kunqu has its own rhythms and tonal patterns with its own ups and downs in cadences and rhyme, it might better help children learn and memorize ancient poems." When she practiced singing opera at home, her daughter would try to repeat after her, and then she learned it line by line.

"Through cultural forums like this, we learn from each other and inspire each other. We find China's own path to showcase the charm of the real China and demonstrate our own spirit", she said during an interview for the Beijing Culture Forum.

This year's Beijing Culture Forum, co-organized by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the municipal Party committee, and the government of Beijing, will be held from Sept 14 to 15 in the capital. Here are a series of talks with celebrities covering various fields such as calligraphy, literature, dance, and opera.
