The Golden State Warriors will acquire forward Kyle Anderson from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a sign-and-trade agreement, ESPN reported Tuesday.

The Warriors are giving Anderson a three-year, $27 million contract, and sending the Wolves cash and a future second-round pick swap.

Golden State opened the new league year by dealing guard Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks in a sign-and-trade, which generated a financial trade exception that the franchise will use on Anderson.

Anderson, 30, has spent his 10-year NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs (2014-18), Memphis Grizzlies (2018-22) and the Timberwolves (2022-24). His best year came in 2020-21 with Memphis, when he received votes for Most Improved Player after averaging 12.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game over 69 starts.

Anderson put up 6.4 points, 4.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game in 79 appearances (10 starts) last season. He has career averages of 6.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 653 games (304 starts).

It was reported on Monday that the Warriors also are adding former Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard De'Anthony Melton on a one-year, $12.8 million free-agent deal.

Meanwhile, Stephen Curry shared a public goodbye to "Splash Brothers" partner Thompson, who is headed to the Mavericks.

Curry posted a lengthy series of photos to his Instagram story, all of them featuring Thompson, his longtime backcourt mate with whom he won four NBA titles. The story concluded with a nod to the success of the unmatched shooting duo.

"Gonna miss you," Curry wrote on Instagram. "Even though we won't finish the journey together, what we did will never be done again. Couldn't have imagined a better run with you and (Draymond Green).Changed the whole Bay Area. Changed the way the game is played. Killa Klay at the center of it all. Thank you for everything bro. Go enjoy playing basketball and doing what you do.

"Splash Bros 4 life my guy."

Also, Donovan Mitchell has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers worth $150.3 million that keeps him with the team through 2028-29, according to multiple reports Tuesday.

The 27-year-old guard, a five-time NBA All-Star who spent five seasons with Utah before joining the Cavs in 2022, averaged 26.6 points and career highs of 6.1 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 steals a game last season.

NBA free agency rules place a moratorium on signings until Saturday, meaning teams cannot complete deals, leaving media reports to reveal what plans are in store for top players and clubs.
