Jolie and Pitt deny wedding rumors

Pitt and Jolie had retreated to the southwest African country for government-assisted privacy in the weeks leading up to the birth. They were accompanied by Jolie's children, 16-month-old Zahara, adopted from Ethiopia, and 4-year-old Maddox, adopted from Cambodia.

Both children had their surnames legally changed to Jolie-Pitt after Pitt announced his intention to adopt them as well.

The couple sold rights to images of Shiloh Nouvel through Getty Images photo agency, saying proceeds would be donated to a charity, not yet named.

People magazine paid a reported $4 million for the right to release the pictures in North America, while Hello! magazine obtained British rights.

The embargo on the images was broken when two Web sites posted an apparent image of the front cover of Hello!

People and Hello! launched legal action Wednesday against the Web sites to prevent publication of the Hello! cover before the celebrity magazine was to go on sale Thursday in Britain.

Pitt and Jolie, who were first linked romantically after appearing together in the 2005 movie "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," planned to leave Namibia in the coming days, without specifying a date.

"We are very proud that our daughter was born here, and we leave with fond memories and definitely hungry to return," Pitt, 42, said.

Jolie, relaxed and smiling in a long black dress, said she and Pitt had sought a place where they could spend some special time with Zahara and Maddox before the birth.

"We both had traveled to Africa and loved this part of the world," she said.

Jolie, who won an Oscar for her supporting role in 1999's "Girl, Interrupted," is divorced from Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller.

Pitt and Jennifer Aniston divorced last year.
