China get its 15th gold medal in the ongoing summer Olympics in Athens after Wang Nan and Zhang Yining won the women's table tennis doubles final Friday.

The defending champions beat South Korean duo Lee Eun Sil and Seok Eun Mi 11-9, 11-7, 11-6, 11-6.

Chinese Guo Yue and Niu Jianfeng took the bronze after defeating South Koreans Kim Bok Rae and Kim Kyung Ah 11-7, 5-11, 11-4, 11-9, 7-11, 9-11, 11-9.

Zhang/Yang secure third badminton gold for China

Zhang Jiewen/Yang Wei, top seeds of women's doubles in the Olympic badminton tournament, didn't follow the example of other top seeds and secured the third gold for China by beating Ra Kyung Min/Lee Kyung Won 15-6, 15-4 in the semi- finals.

Ra/Lee, considered the biggest threat to Chinese pairs, losing their accuracy of placement and unpenetrable defense in the match, found it difficult to face the challenge posed by the Chinese duet whom they've just upsetted 15-3, 15-3 in Japan Open 2004.

"We made good preparations before this match," said Yang Wei, adding that they'd vowed to conquer all the obstacles before the Olympics.

About tomorrow's final, Zhang claimed that gold or silver doesn 't mean that much to them since the final would be held between two Chinese pairs.

However, "we will try our best to win the gold", she promised.
