由中央紀委宣傳部、中央巡視辦、中央電視臺聯合制作的電視專題片《巡視利劍》9月7日起在中央電視臺首播。第一集《利劍高懸》總結了巡視工作取得的成績單，多位落馬官員現身接受采訪，表達對自身行為的懺悔。

The documentary, named Sharp Sword of Inspection, highlighted the strategy of using inspections as tools to boost clean governance amid the country's unprecedented campaign of fighting corruption.
紀錄片《巡視利劍》聚焦我國史無前例的反腐行動中用巡視作為手段促進廉潔執政的戰略。

早在2013年4月25日，習近平總書記主持中央政治局常委會會議，審議《中央巡視工作領導小組第一次會議研究部署巡視工作情況的報告》時強調，“巡視是黨章賦予的重要職責，是加強黨的建設的重要舉措，是從嚴治黨、維護黨紀的重要手段，是加強黨內監督的重要形式（discipline inspection is an important responsibility under the Party Constitution, a major step to strengthen the Party buildup, significant means to exercise strict governance of the Party and maintain Party discipline, and an important form to improve intra-Party supervision）。”

十八大以來，中央12輪巡視共處理來信來訪159萬件次，與黨員干部和群眾談話5.3萬人次，發現各類突出問題8200余個。十八屆黨中央開展了12輪巡視，共巡視277個黨組織（The discipline inspection commission has launched 12 rounds of inspections at 277 Party organizations），對16個省區市進行了“回頭看”（reexaminations），對4個中央單位開展了機動式巡視（mobile inspections），兌現了全覆蓋的政治承諾。

巡視工作中發現的違紀行為包括：

官商勾結 collusion between government officials and business owners/government-business corruption

小官巨腐 corruption by low-level officials who engage in an astonishing number of bribery and money-for-position deals

車房超標 misconduct in government car use and housing allocation for officials

干部親屬利用職權經商謀利 relatives of officials using the officials' influence to seek commercial gains

利用節慶及婚喪嫁娶收受禮金 taking festival celebrations and weddings or funerals as opportunities to receive "red envelopes," or gift money

買官賣官 lobbying for promotions or money-for-position deals

搞“小圈子” formation of "small coteries" or factions among officials
