立冬已過，今年的冬季拉開序幕，有些地方甚至已經下雪了。你的城市如今是秋陽嫵媚還是寒風刺骨呢？冬季必須知道的口語表達，現在開始~

1.The weather is cold.
天冷了。

眾所周知，冬季很冷，冷到什么程度呢？除了“cold”，我們還可以怎樣形容冷？請看下面的句子：

It’s quite/awfully/severely cold.
天真冷/天太冷了/天氣非常冷。

It is biting/bitterly cold.
天冷得厲害。

It’s really piercing cold.
天冷得刺骨。

It’s freezing cold.
天寒地凍。

Notes: 一種表達方法是在cold前加上修飾語，表示冷的程度，上述的quite（相當），awfully（非常）, severely（嚴重地）, biting（刺痛的）, bitterly（殘酷地）和freezing（冰凍的）都加深了冷的程度。所以，除了干干地說一句“cold”，我們還可以加上這些修飾語。

下面一組句子并沒有使用cold, 而是用其他的單詞或短語來表明天氣嚴寒。看看哪一句適合你的城市吧！

It cooled down.
天變涼了。

It became very chilly.
天氣很冷了。

It is beginning to feel like winter.
開始有冬天的感覺了。

The outside is icy.
外面冰冷。

It is frigid.
天氣很寒冷。

The temperature dropped very low this evening.
晚上氣溫降得很低。

It’s freezing outside.
外面天寒地凍。

Notes: 這些句子中都沒有”cold”一詞，但說起來更加生動，描述性增強。我們可以根據實際天氣情況選擇這些表達方法。

cool down
冷卻，平靜下來

例：

We have to cool the soup down to make the dish.
做這道菜得先讓湯冷卻。

It was not easy for her to cool down after that argument.
爭吵之后，她平靜下來可不太容易。

chilly 寒冷的，

例：

It was a chilly evening.
那是個寒冷的夜晚。

2. How do you feel?
你感覺如何？

天寒地凍，人自然不好受。立于寒風之中，你會有怎樣的感受？

I was freezing to death.
今天凍死我了。

She shivered because of the cold.
她冷得發抖。

I have goose bumps all over in the cold wind.
寒風中凍得我渾身起雞皮疙瘩。

I am frostbitten.
我生凍瘡了。

Notes: to death表示“極度，到極點”，

例：

The soldiers would rather fight to death than surrender.
士兵們寧愿戰斗到底也決不投降。

shiver既可作名詞，又可作動詞，表示“顫抖，打戰，戰栗”，

例：

She was shivering like a leaf sitting there.
她坐在那抖得像風中的樹葉。

A shiver of joy passed through her stomach when she heard the news.
聽到這個消息，一種愉快的戰栗傳到她的胃里。

凍傷的，使凍傷

例：

His frostbitten fingers look quite scary.
他凍傷的手指看著很嚇人。

3. How do we conquer the coldness?
我們如何戰勝寒冷？

戰勝寒冷的第一法寶自然是多穿點。

例：

She bundled up.
她穿得暖暖的。

Notes: bundle up 原意是“捆扎…”，在這里是“穿暖”的意思，用衣服把自己裹起來可不就是穿暖嗎？例句：

We need to bundle up against the cold.
我們必須穿得暖暖的去抵御寒冷。

第二個法寶就是多運動。冬天一下雪，我們就可以堆雪人，打雪仗啦！

It snowed heavily.
雪下得很大。

Snowflakes are fluttering in the air.
雪花在空中飄揚。

We had snowfalls throughout the week.
雪整整下了一周。

It sleeted/snowed with rain.
今天雨夾雪。

The heavy snow tied up traffic.
大雪阻礙了交通。

We are snowed in to stay in the house for the whole day.
我們被大雪困住了，在屋里待了一整天。

Let's have a snowball fight.
我們去打雪仗吧。

They want to make/build a big snowman.
他們想堆個大雪人。

I want to ski/get on the slopes/hit the slopes.
我想去滑雪。

I enjoyed the game so much that I lost track of time.
我玩得太盡興，都忘記了時間。

Notes:

雨夾雪

tie up
(美式英語）阻礙（交通等）

例： The traffic was tied up by the the accident for a few hours.
這場事故讓交通阻塞了幾個小時。

snow in
被雪封住（困住）

例： They were snowed in the village for three days.
他們被大雪堵在村里三天。

make/build a snowman
堆雪人

get on/hit the slopes
可形象地表示“滑雪”

lose track of
失去聯系，不能跟上

例： They lost track of each other because of the war.
他們因為這場戰爭而失去彼此的聯系。

Lose track of time
弄亂時間，也就是忘記時間

寒冬已至，我們必須學著put up with（忍受）寒冷，要多穿點，多鍛煉，過個暖暖的冬天。
