BEIJING -- Chinese talented gymnast Yang Wei will capture the gold in the men's all-around competition if he can have a clean performance, German gymnastic ace Fabian Hambuchen's father and coach Wolfgang Hambuchen said on Sunday.

"Yang Wei is the strongest participant in the all-around competition. He is very successful and experienced. If he can finish his routine in a clean way, that is, without mistakes, he will be unbeatable. Therefore, Yang's major rival is himself," said Hambuchen at the National Indoor Stadium after training.

The coach believed Yang missed several opportunities to claim the world title because he had been under pressure, but now he has had lots of improvement since 2006, including in the technical field. "If everything runs normally just like in the 2007 World Championships, Yang will be unbeatable."

In the Stuttgart World Championships, Yang successfully took the gold in all-around.

On the medal prospect of Fabian, Wolfgang Hambuchen said his 20-year-old son also has the possibility of winning the gold. "We will try to make it difficult for Yang on his way to the title," Hambuchen added.

Wolfgang Hambuchen was a gymnast himself 30 years ago and participated in international competitions. He led his son Fabian into the gymnastic world when Fabian was five years old. Wolfgang has been acting as Fabian's coach till now.

Fabian Hambuchen has become a legendary gymnast. He not only helped the German team win the bronze team medal in the 2007 World Championships but also claimed the world title in horizontal bar and a silver in individual all-around.
